Faculty of Health, Department of Physiotherapy, Studies Keele University, StaffordshireCommitted to CPD It has been identified that allied health professionals and members of other related disciplines may require both academic accreditation and flexibility when seeking continuing professional development (CPD). Our postgraduate courses endeavour to fulfil these needs within the field of physiotherapy and/or pain management. These flexible courses are available as a part-time or full time option, or modules can be taken as independent stand-alone programmes of study. The philosophy of these flexible modular courses aims to broaden the knowledge, understanding and encourage personal development. It is also about fostering greater insight into how different disciplines, through a programme of shared learning and teaching, can contribute to this aim. A returner to study? Come and do a stand-alone module. Interested in clinical research? Enrol onto the Research Methods module. How do you apply research to clinical practice? Try out the Evidence Based Practice module. Wanting to develop and specialise in a particular area? Try one of our core modules to update your knowledge. Interested in taking your study further? Enrol onto the Certificate, Diploma or MSc programme. Doing another masters' course but interested in doing one of our option modules? Choose one of ours and gain some APL credits.
MSc Pain Science and ManagementCore Modules: Apply research into clinical practice. Research Methods; Evidence Based Practice; The Physiology and Pharmacology of Pain; Psychosocial Aspects of Pain; and Assessment of Pain. Option Modules: Taper study to clinical practice. Select three from a selection available within the Department and University, e.g. Introducing Acupuncture; Advanced Manual Therapy; Stability Rehabilitation of Movement Dysfunction. Dissertation: Use the knowledge and research skills developed on the course to explore health care issues in depth. Area of Students Choice.
